It’s supper time again, and we all straggle in
Sit down at our places after we washed our hands and faces
Sister sets the table, while Mom takes off her apron
And sits down next to Dad – and we all bow our heads

Now brother’s lip is busted from a wrench that he was cussing
While working on his old truck that’s not much more than rusted
Now he sits there like a warrior with his first taste of battle
Guess it really doesn’t matter if it ever runs at all

Sister’s fingernails are painted, and she’s brushed her hair all day
Last night she had her first kiss out by the front yard gate
Don’t know what she sees in Tony – he’s so tall and he’s so boney
Guess it doesn’t take a whole lot to get a girl acting that way

These are the times
(That) I will hold forever
Where ever I go
These times will be my treasure

Now Momma, she’s so pretty, and she likes to hug on Daddy
They always wait to kiss and talk till we’ve all gone to bed
Then the radio starts playing and they get close and they start swaying
While in my bed I’m laying with those old songs in my head

Now Daddy’s hands are scratched up, and they look like they’ve been bleeding
His forehead lines are reading – he’s had another long, hard day
But as he looks across his table like a hero in a fable
We see him smile at us and we know that everything’s okay

Yes, it’s supper time again, and we all straggle in
Sit down at our places after we washed our hands and faces
Sister sets the table, while Mom takes off her apron
And sits down next to Dad – and we all bow our heads
