Sometimes when I dream at night
I still pretend that things are right between us
In my world of twilight sleep
There on the outside looking in…you know I’ve seen us
And it’s funny how perfume can linger
Somewhere in your mind
You can love someone so much you bring her
Back through space and time

We were shooting stars
Bright and beautiful
Lighting up the night
For an instant we were burning
With an incandescent light
But the fire simply burned itself away
We were shooting stars that vanished on their way
We were shooting stars that lived and danced away

Things that I remember best
Are funny little moments just in passing
Stolen glances, secret jokes
That seemed like nothing at the time…keep lasting
Sometimes I want to cry from wanting
To re-write history
Though she’s lost and gone, she still is haunting
Every part of me

We were shooting stars
Bright and beautiful
Lighting up the sky
For an instant we were burning
With an incandescent light
We were shooting stars

We were shooting stars
We were fire and we smoldered
Like an arc across the sky
Then we disappeared from view
Like a shooting star must do
For the fire simply burned itself away
We were shooting stars that vanished on their way
We were shooting stars that lived and danced away
